
11 arrests in Lancashire 'cash-for-crash' insurance fraud claims The Clitheroe Advertiser and Times / 10th March 2010 POLICE have today arrested 11 people in connection with an investigation into so-called 'crash for cash' insurance fraud
The 10 men and one woman were arrested when officers visited a number of addresses in Blackburn, Accrington, Bolton and Manchester this morning. All have been arrested on suspicion of fraud and will be interviewed at Blackburn Police Station during the course of the day. Temporary Chief Insp. Kevin Evans, of Blackburn Police, said: "Operation Klymene is a Lancashire Constabulary led investigation conducted with the assistance of Greater Manchester Police into people suspected of committing 'crash for cash' insurance fraud. "As a result of this investigation a number of addresses have been searched in both Lancashire and Greater Manchester resulting in a number of arrests for fraud related offences. "It is estimated this type of crime results in costs of up to £45 a year for every genuine insurance premium customer throughout the country. "Lancashire Constabulary is committed to reducing crime to make our communities safer and reduce the cost of crime to everyone."
