Crash for cash’ claim charges

TWO Oldham men have been charged following an investigation into “crash for cash” insurance claims.

Mohammed Sayam Ahmed, of Norman Street, Oldham; and Mohammed Hafizur Rahman, of Trafalgar Street, Coldhurst; both 21, face allegations of conspiracy to commit fraud. They will appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Thursday with three Rochdale men facing the same charges — Abdul Haque (26), Sazadul Haque (24) and Parvez Miah (26) — all of Gowers Street. The five are the latest to be charged as part of Operation Contact, Greater Manchester Police’s crackdown on fraudulent insurance claims made after induced accidents. Specialist operations officers are investigating hundreds of collisions across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire. Thirteen other people have also been charged. Eight are due to appear at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on Monday, December 22 . Mohammed Patel (23), of Nottingham Drive, Bolton, earlier pleaded guilty to 17 charges, including conspiracy to commit fraud, dangerous driving and disqualified driving at Minshull Street Crown Court. The case has been adjourned for sentencing at a later date.
